MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
Anyone who loves the history, traditions, artifacts and the camaraderie of golf
is encouraged to join the GHSC.
Whether you are interested in collecting memorabilia, reading,
or just enjoying the fellowship that comes from sharing your enthusiasm for golf,
the GHSC is for you.
A membership brings you into a network that includes collectors and historians.
You will also meet golfers, like yourself, who have a deep interest
in golf lore and memorabilia.
Hickory Golf Tournaments
Those interested in playing golf with hickory shafted clubs
can participate in hickory scramble events.
Tournaments are held twice a year, and judging from the interest,
these events will continue to grow in number.
Many players dress in period garb.
Members can also bring their collectables to show and trade.
For Those Interested In More Competitive Hickory Golf
The Ontario Hickory Tour events (both match and medal play) are
played over the course of the summer to better prepare ourselves
for the annual C. B. Macdonald Challenge and
the Eastern Canadian Hickory Championship in September.
The C. B. Macdonald Challenge and
the Eastern Canadian Hickory Championship is an international two day event
-- Canada versus the United States of America --
played each September
at Niagara Golf Course, in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario.
The Quarterly Bulletin
To stimulate your involvement in the GHSC,
and to keep you in touch with your interests,
the quarterly bulletin focuses on Canada's golf history.
Members are encouraged to submit articles on any subject of interest.
Since members' interests cover many different subjects,
including everything from collecting old clubs, golf books and memorabilia,
the bulletin's editor seeks out interesting articles and photographs.
A membership directory is issued each year.
It includes names, addresses, telephone numbers of our membership,
and lists their collecting interests. Annual General Meeting
The Annual General Meeting is held each year
-- usually in February or March --
at the Royal Canadian Golf Association Golf Hall of Fame,
located at The Glen Abbey Golf Course, in Oakville.
Attendees are invited to "buy - sell - trade - browse".
Anyone can bring their treasures along.
Tables will be provided to display your golf memorabilia.
An auction follows to wind up the day.
Seminars and Film Presentations
Guest speakers are available to talk on subjects
whether it be collecting, book reviews, or Canadian Golf History.
Since our membership is so broad and knowledgeable, research information
is always available - usually just phone call away.
