In May of 1988, Norm Moreau, Jack Rutherford, Bob Nutley and George Elliot
got together with a few friends who enjoy golf, its lore and its artifacts.
They reasoned there must be other people who had similar interests.
This meeting led to the formation of The Golf Historical Society of Canada.
It was, and still is, an informal group, that shares an interest
in the books, clubs and memorabilia of the grand old game of golf.
This organization provides an excellent opportunity for golfers to meet other people
who love to talk about the game's history, swap and trade memorabilia,
and play an occasional round of golf with some old 'hickory sticks'.
The GHSC is not a "buy-and-sell group".
It was formed to bring together Canadians interested in our heritage,
dating back to 1873, or earlier.
Many members have private collections, and enjoy sharing stories and information.
In fact, this sharing of information is the foundation of the GHSC.
